Care Package Initiative
Offering Comfort, Hope and Connection
Receiving a cancer diagnosis and beginning treatment can be one of the most difficult moments in a person’s life. For many, that first day of treatment is filled with uncertainty, fear, and countless emotions. Our Cancer Care Package Initiative was born from a simple desire — to remind every patient that they are not alone.
Each care package is assembled by members of our faith-based cancer support group and distributed freely to patients receiving treatment for the first time at our local cancer center. Inside each package are small, thoughtful items chosen to bring comfort on what may be a daunting first day. With an encouraging card signed by group members and providing a direct invitation into community, these simple packages carry a powerful message — you are seen, you are cared for, and you are not walking this journey alone.
A Growing Effort
The initiative began with 50 care packages in spring 2025. Overall, we have now delivered 300 packages!
As a focus of 2026-2027, we’re moving forward toward an expansion of this initiative, with a goal of providing a small act of kindness on a consistent basis for years to come. Our goal is to provide 50 care packages monthly.
How You Can Help
Each care package is a small reminder that someone sees them, cares about them, and is walking alongside them.
Your gift helps Brevity provide practical encouragement to people beginning cancer treatment—and creates opportunities to connect them with ongoing support, prayer, and community.
$25 helps us provide a care package to someone beginning treatment.
If you would like to support this initiative, there are a few meaningful ways to get involved:
Donate – financial contributions help us purchase supplies and expand the reach of our packages. Brevity Cancer Support is partnered with the Great Commission Foundation to facilitate charitable giving and tax-deductible receipts.
Contribute items – we gratefully accept donations of new, unopened care items such as lotion, tea, tissues, notebooks, pens, lip balm or puzzle books. Though some product brands may change with availability, the high quality of items we include is purposeful.
